Did you know that waterproofing paint fills the pin holes in the masonry and expands as it dries to form a barrier?

Step 6: If you’re using marking tape, be sure it’s painter’s tape. It will give you a crisp line.

Use a ½” nap roller cover for flat finish.

Painting Prep Step 4: When in doubt, prime. Always prime exposed wood. Always prime glossy surfaces.

For trim finish, use semi-gloss or satin.

Use a better quality roller cover. Cheap covers leave a paint edge and shed fabric into your finish.

Quality paint will hide and cover better.

Paint Prep Step 3: Use paintable caulk to fill gaps between walls and trim.

Use a 3/8″ nap roller cover for eggshell finish.

Painting Prep Step 2: Fix any cracks and holes (patch and spackle). Sand and wipe dust with a damp cloth.

Painting Prep Step 1: Wash walls and trim. Be especially sure to wash the top trim of door and windows.

Quality paint will cover more square feet per gallon.

A 2” brush is perfect for a small window sash.
